A Sarah Palin & Glen Beck Ticket – Dumb & Dumber
64Sarah Palin's Book Signing
Yes, it’s true, Sarah Palin is still viewed by many in her party as a prospect for the White House.
Oh no! I promised myself to stop the name calling but “dumb & dumber” suddenly popped into my mind when I heard of Sarah Palin’s deep admiration and respect for Glen Beck, and when I considered rumors of Sarah running for President and choosing Beck for her VP hopeful. I will try to abstain from using the word, bimbo, as I don’t feel it will be necessary.
I loved the 1994 Farrelly brother’s film staring comedic geniuses Jim Carey and Jeff Daniels. These guys are smart and can really play stupid people. And, I mean no offense to Carey and Daniels by the comparison, but, a Palin and Beck ticket?
In the acknowledgments of “Going Rogue,” Sarah Palin pays homage to her supporters in conservative media, using only their first names:
“To some media professionals whom I admire because you don’t let anyone tell you to sit down and shut up, please keep making the idiots’ heads spin. Thank you for not taking our Freedom of the Press for granted, you bold and patriotic, fair and balanced media folks. Keep calling it like you see it: Amanda, Andrew, Ann, Bill(s), Bob, Cal, Dennis, Dick, Eddie, Fred, Glenn, Greta, Hugh, Joey, John, Jonah, Larry, Laura, Lou, Mark, Mary, Michael, Michelle, R.A.M., Rich, Rush, S.E., Sean, Tammy, Walter… and there are more. I join you in standing up for what is right. Remember that as your voice is heard and your spine is stiffened, the spines of others are stiffened, too.”
The conservatives idea of a dream-team—a Palin-Beck ticket
Palin calls out those she deems balanced, fair, patriotic, bold, and willing to “keep making the idiots’ head spin.” And, here I digress to agree with Palin—she and her minions definitely make heads spin—the heads are, however, the heads of the still sane.
When recently asked whether she may in the future campaign with Glen Beck as her running mate, she commented to Newsmax,
"I can envision a couple of different combinations, if ever I were to be in a position to really even seriously consider running for anything in the future, and I'm not there yet. But Glenn Beck I have great respect for. He's a hoot. He gets his message across in such a clever way. And he's so bold – I have to respect that. He calls it like he sees it, and he's very, very, very effective."
Palin and Beck—soul mates
Since stepping down as governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin has been making lots of Facebook friends—she updates her over 800,000 followers daily on her opinions regarding the dangers of Obama’s liberal policies, and has been praising Glen Beck for his contribution to fair and balanced news reporting.
It’s true that Palin and Beck are simpatico on many issues:
Palin has been alerting her following of tea-baggers, birthers, and fundamentalist Christians of the "death panels” built into the Democrat’s health care proposals, while Beck warns health care reform is putting us all on a collision course with Nazism, Communism, Fascism, and Socialism.
Remember it was Palin who insisted Obama was “palin’ around with terrorists last year when running with McCain. And, now Palin has been steering her Facebook fan club to Glen Beck, who warns viewers that Obama is getting his advice from Communists and other radicals within the White House.
So, who does Beck pal around with?
Michael Hill, renowned white supremacist, was interviewed on Beck’s CNN/Headline News to discuss his views on dissolving the government. Hill’s League of the South (LOS) group is a white supremacist organization that insists Anglo-Celtic southern culture must be protected and white men must defend their interests. When Hill talked about dissolving the government, Beck pushed back, but said, "Don’t get me wrong. There’s part of me that says, mm-hmm."
Tom Woods, once a member of LOS, historian and economic theorist who wrote in his book, Politically Incorrect Guide to the American History, "strictly speaking, there was never an American Civil War...Other, more ideologically charged (but nevertheless much more accurate) names for the conflict include the War for Southern Independence and even the War for Northern Aggression."
Larry Pratt, president of Gun Owners of America, has been warmly greeted on the Beck show, and is best known for being forced to resign as co-chair of Pat Buchanan’s 1996 presidential campaign because of ties to white supremacist and extremist groups. That same year, the Southern Poverty Law Center reported Pratt was contributing to an anti-Semitic periodical, United Sovereigns of America. Gun Owners of America was discovered donating money to a white supremacist attorney’s group.
Roy Beck, founder and president of NumbersUSA, has appeared with Beck on three occasions, and is the Washington editor of The Social Contract, a quarterly journal that has published articles by white nationalists like Samuel Francis, who was fired from the conservative Washington Times after writing racially inflammatory columns.
Charles Goyette, self-described Independent and popular Phoenix-based radio host, who would be non-controversial except for the fact that months earlier, on his own program, he claimed the official story behind the 9/11 terrorist attacks is "worse than Swiss cheese." Beck, of course, memorably pilloried Van Jones for putting his name on a petition that questioned whether 9/11 was a government conspiracy.
A Palin-Beck ticket may be considered a
dream team by millions, but the still sane can only shudder at the thought of
such a nightmare. Thanks, but no thanks!

kartika! I always try so hard to not put people down, but these two! UGHHHHHHHHHHHHH. Doea that explain how I feel? I really can not understand the appeal? The only time I REALLY liked Glenn Beck was when he was portrayed by Jon Stewart!!!! It was soooo funny! One of my closest friends that I grew up with once said that "Palin rocked." This was during the elections and she lives in Colorado. I stood there stunned and did not want to go off on what I REALLY think. BUT ?!!!!?!!!!!?!!!!!!?!!!!!!?!!!!! UGHHHHHHHH ha ha ha ha G
A toast to Kartika,
She wields her pen like a Roman spear,
And tells us what we need to hear,
If anyone threatens her, I'm Kartika!
Always great reading your hubs!
Thanks again! And again!
You don't have to feel one way or the other about Palin. The fact that she quit being governor and walked out on her promise to the people of Alaska should be enough to keep her out of any office ever. She's a quitter.
You know what I find scary? She's still all over the news, all over the press, and all over our hubs. No one can deny she's a presence and an influence. You've heard of the silent majority -- well I think there's a new group out there -- the brainless majority, the ones that don't step outside of their adopted, preset, affected political personae long enough to think anything through. Obviously -- this is the majority, the brainless majority.
I take it since you quote from the book, you actually bought a copy of the thing. Oh -- I'm so disappointed.

Glenn Beck stakes out a more activist role in politics - from the NYT.
Nightmare.
The collapse of most empires has been marked by descent into extreme decadence, irrational nationalistic fervor and wildly extravagant government spending. The general mental state of populations of empires in the final stages of decline can be broadly described as psychotic.
Ask not for whom the bell tolls…
And so it goes...
Bleck! I'm out visiting, Kartika, mainly because I was banned from the forums, for uh, 'insulting' a Glennbeckatroll (Ron Montgomery's word)/Sarah fan whose idea of rhetoric is to follow me around and harass me personally. I really believe the ban is to recognize "equal time/treatment" among Hubpage users. :) You know, how they did it on CNN especially when Lou Dobbs was still there? The quote, quote liberal view spin, moderate view spin, Glennbeckatroll/Palin view spin (which equates to irresponsible abusive language like "Obama is Hitler"). But OK! We gotta give them equal time--they aren't moronic idiots we shouldn't give the time of day to and should hit the delete button on, or, ahem, jailed/fined for ethics abuses--they are--REPUBLICANS.
And that, I'd say...is exactly how fascism will enter the picture on the national stage. Through this misguided belief of equal time and the merit of these insane--and the inability or absolute refusal to call them what they are by far too many.
You know, honestly, before this, I thought Pam G. and her idea that Palin could indeed become president was pretty far fetched. But I think I give people too much credit. And that thought is depressing.
Maybe Cleaning up after this Earth-Quake will get everybody on the Right Track...
Kartika, isn't everything bad enough without you making this horrid suggestion? You know, I really think the duo would bomb. The very fact that Palin walked off the job in Alaska would do her in. She will probably just remain a spokes person for the party and that will work out for her fine.
Kartika
Based on the current lack of accomplishments and the three trillion dollar deficit shouldn't you be looking at what is wrong today.
I am not with any party, but it is obvious that the current democrat control is not a benefit to the people or the country.

Palin and Beck -- they talk a lot, but can they balance a budget? They disagree with President Obama's policies, paricularly on health care, but have they offered an alternative? All I hear from them is a return to the law of the jungle -- survival of the fittest. And if you're not one of the fittest, that's your fault. She spouts - a return to the the self-sufficiency, and free enterprise that made this great country what it is. And what is it? Time to take a look around people. The schism in this country between left & right, liberal & conservative, Rep. & Dem. is the oldest game in the book -- divide and conquer.
As long as Americans continue to bicker and label each other, nothing will be done about the very real problems facing the country.
When you look around and see that what has been done for the past twenty-five years isn't working -- more of the same won't help. How about we forget political labels and just look at what makes sense?
